In the late 1960s, a brand inspector commented that Dad’s calves were a little small that year. That comment didn’t sit well with him, so he began studying what he could do to improve the genetics of his herd. After attending a symposium on creating the ultimate beef animal, he learned that adding dairy influence could improve milk production and growth. Brown Swiss were incorporated to increase maternal strength, and Angus bulls were then used on those females.

Everything changed after Dad saw a set of Limousin calves at the National Western Stock Show. His words were, “Those are the best calves I have ever seen. Someday I’ll have a whole herd of them.” And so it began.
While many of the original characteristics of Dad’s unique herd have evolved over time, the genetics still run deep. Those early decisions helped shape what we believe makes us “A Breed Apart.”

Dad always told me, “If you just raise good cattle and don’t chase the fads, you’ll always have good cattle.” Although we’ve made minor adjustments through the years, we have stayed true to that wisdom.

-Make productive, long-lasting mothers with ample milk
-Thrive and work in the harshest conditions

With the ongoing industry concerns surrounding heart disease and brisket issues, we are more committed than ever to producing the ultimate beef animal—one that can thrive anywhere.

While Limousin and Lim-Flex remain our primary focus, we have also incorporated select Simmental and Angus genetics to offer something different. We believe those cattle must meet the same standards we demand in our Limousin program.

We believe that by using Reynolds bulls and females, you will be raising some of the most problem-free, productive cattle in the industry.
